How It Works

Searching:

You may search Barterswitch.com for free, however, you will not have access to the e-mail address, website, and descriptive information of the members of your search results until you become a member of Barterswitch.com yourself.

Membership:

It is currently free to become a member. Becoming a member not only gives you full access to the information in our database, it also allows you to list items that you would like to barter so that other searchers can locate you. Once you are a member, each ad you place is free. To become a member of Barterswitch.com, click join.

Adding Items You Wish To Barter:

Once you become a member, you can add the items you are looking to give and receive to the Barterswitch.com database so that other members can locate you when they search Barterswitch.com. Simply click on ad an item to add your items.

You must specify both an item that you would like to give and an item that you would like to receive in return for that item. You may also include a picture of your item if you have a website address where that picture is stored (example: www.your_site.com/your_picture.gif). In addition, you can also enter your website address and a description of what you want or what you have to give. Please note that the words you use in your descriptive titles will be the keywords that others use to search for your items. See illustration below of our ad placement form.

How To Use The Barterswitch.com Search Form:

The Barterswitch.com search form is located at the top of selected pages of Barterswitch.com There are 3 ways to use this search tool.

1.) Example 1: You have a 1975 Red Hot Rod Car. You want to trade it for a 20 Ft. Sail Boat. By typing “1975 Red Hot Rod Car” in the “Enter Item You Will Give” text box and “20 Ft. Sail Boat” in the “Enter Item You Need” text box and pressing "Find", Barterswitch.com will give you a list of all members who are looking to give their 20 ft. sailboat in return for your 1975 hot rod. You can then e-mail that person to find out if they would like to trade items with you. See illustration below:

2.) Example 2: You have a 1920 buffalo nickel. You want to find all members of Barterswitch.com who want your nickel. By typing “1920 buffalo nickel” in the “Enter Item You Will Give” text box (Note: Leave the “Enter Item You Need” text box empty) and pressing "Find", Barterswitch.com will give you a list of items that other members are offering you for this nickel. If you locate an item you want, simply e-mail that person to find out if they would like to trade items with you. See illustration below:

3.) Example 3: You are looking to obtain a 1920 buffalo nickel. You want a listing of all the Barterswitch.com members who are looking to give a nickel in return for an item of their choice. By typing in 1920 buffalo nickel in the “Enter Item You Need” text box (Note: Leave the “Enter Item You Will Give” text box empty) and pressing "Find", Barterswitch.com will give you a list of items that other members want from you for their nickel. If you locate an item that you own and are willing to give, simply e-mail that person to find out if they would like to trade items with you. See illustration below:

Complaints:

In the event you have a complaint against another member of Barterswitch.com, you can voice this complaint by clicking on the complaints link at the bottom of select Barterswitch.com pages. In the event another member does not make good on their offer to trade items with you (i.e., you have sent them their item and they have not sent you their item) you can warn other members of this members history by filling out a complaint form. This complaint will appear under the link "My Trading History" when a member clicks on the "description" link when that members items are returned to a member in a search result. Please note that Barterswitch.com is not responsible for the monitoring of such complaints or removal of such members who have such complaints against them. However, Barterswitch.com will reserve the right to revoke a persons membership for any reason at any time.
